“Love is patient; love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not put on airs, it is not snobbish. Love is never rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not prone to anger, neither does it brood over injuries. Love does not rejoice in what is wrong, but rejoices with the truth. There is no limit to love’s forbearance, to its trust, its hope, its power to endure. Love never fails. [1 Corinthians 13:4-8a]
The Sacrament of Marriage should celebrate the mutual love and trust that draws two individuals to each other. It should be this love that allows them to freely and joyfully choose to spend their lives together. As a sacrament, marriage must reflect in some concrete, visible way the love that Christ has for His Church. This demands, therefore, an outward expression of faith and a personal commitment to Christ.
At least one member of the engaged couple is required to be an actively, registered member of this parish and must contact the Pastor at least six months prior to their proposed wedding date. (A date for the wedding should never be finalized without first being discussed with the priest). Attendance by the couple at the Marriage Preparation Program presented by Region V is mandatory.
